Updating the Akai s3000XL
ZuluSCSI replacing the floppy drive, connected to the internal SCSI bus, with pre-formatted SD card from Samplerzone.com. ZuluSCSI allows a virtual hard drive on every SCSI ID. (I had to extend the floppy's original internal power cable but some people report this isn't required: it works fine off the SCSI power line.) There appeared to be no SCSI "termination" issues - the classic old bugbear. Retaining an old G4 mac running MESA and Recycle on the rear external SCSI bus caused no conflicts.
Display upgraded with OLED available from ebay sellers. Power line from the inverter is now not required, it runs off the 5 volt line on the LCD multiway connector. Pretty much a drop-in replacement.
